On the last day of 1915, 6th Royal West Surrey (Queens) of 37 Brigade, 12th Division, moved into the support lines behind Givenchy in northern France with 2 companies at Windy Corner and another at Le Plantin. On 2nd January, 1916 they took over the front line from 6th Buffs. During this relief the enemy shelled Windy Corner which resulted in the deaths of 3 men, one of them being William Dixon. |
